The Town of Pelham was established in 1970, for the purpose of combining the historical communities of Fonthill, Ridgeville, Effingham, North Pelham, and Fenwick.
Situated on the hillside known as Fonthill Kame, the Kame rises 246 feet above the surrounding land. It has the highest elevation in the Niagara Region. On a clear day residents can see the skylines of Niagara Falls and Toronto.
Pelham is primarily a residential suburb known for its fruit orchards, nature trails, and friendly attitude. Most residents commute daily to Welland, St. Catharines and some as far as Buffalo, Hamilton and Toronto for work.
